Controller
Laura Langner brings over 13 years of accounting and finance experience to Browne Consulting Group. She joined Browne Consulting Group as a Controller, and now leads a team of two. She has advised clients on a variety of accounting matters such as audit preparation and support, budgeting, and forecasting. She has also guided clients through operational matters such as corporate and health insurance renewals, systems implementations, and developing processes and policies.
Prior to Browne Consulting Group, Laura worked at two different non-profit organizations leading their accounting department and began her career with Grant Thornton.
A: Every day I feel like I make an impact, and our clients value our expertise and knowledge so they can focus on creating life-changing science. Changing industries from focusing on non-profits to life sciences was challenging, and while accounting is similar regardless, learning new terminology, the life cycle and various stages of life science companies has been exciting.
A: Working collaboratively as a team and leaning on each other’s strengths always leads to the best outcomes.
A: I love to bake, especially creating new allergen-friendly treats with my kids.

Josh Leibowitz brings over seven years of accounting and finance experience to Browne Consulting Group. As a Controller, Josh has advised clients on a variety of operational accounting matters such as tax analysis, revenue recognition, year-end financial reporting.
Prior to joining our team, Josh worked at EY in Financial Services Assurance where he worked on large mutual funds and smaller hedge/PE funds. He then moved on to Raptor Capital Management, where he worked on the founder’s personal finances, created monthly financial packages, and completed high net worth individual personal tax returns. He also worked on six Private Equity funds as a Senior Fund Accountant, led the Northeastern co-op program, created quarterly financial statements/cap statements for investors, worked on year-end tax reporting for partnerships, and helped with the K1 process.
A: The collaboration – everyone at Browne is willing to hop on a quick call and help, no matter the question. If they have not gone through it with one of their clients, they want to help and learn themselves so they can utilize the knowledge if it ever pops up for them. We are all on the same team trying to bring the best support we can to our clients.
A: Determination – Being successful requires a lot of hard work and dedication to master your craft. The best of the best do not take the easy road or shortcuts.
A: The New England Patriots and my family. My dad has had season tickets since 1993, I started going to games with him at four years old. I plan to bring my son to games as soon as possible. Being a father has been a “Bucket List” dream, and it has been the most rewarding experience. I will always remember being at the “Tuck Rule” game with my dad back in 2002 in a blizzard which led to six super bowls and a 20-year dynasty!

Mallory Latson, Senior Controller, brings over 10 years of accounting and finance experience to Browne Consulting Group. Mallory has advised clients on a variety of operational accounting matters such as management of financial reporting, budgeting, and system implementation.
Prior to Browne Consulting Group, Mallory worked at PwC where she began in assurance, serving asset management clients for five years. She then transferred to Transaction Services, focusing on financial due diligence for five years as a Manager and Senior Manager, assisting both corporate and private equity clients with buy-and-sell-side deals.
A: Willingness to learn. This job brings many unique issues as our clients mature, and being able to ask for help, problem solve, and learn new things is essential. Working for Browne and with my clients allows me to do something different and interesting every day. I love that there is always a new challenge as my clients grow and we find ways to work through them together as a team.
A: I try to spend as much time with my family as possible. Having more time at home with my daughter is one of the best things about working for Browne. Virtual working has helped me gain back so much time. I love that I no longer commute or pack a bag and can spend that time doing other things that make me happy for a more balanced work and personal life.
A: I always wanted to run the Boston Marathon. In 2017 I finally did and raised over $10,000 to support Boston Medical Center in the process.

A: Outside of work I am passionate about the outdoors, especially the ocean. Chances are if I am not at work, I am near the sea. This passion has shaped my dedication to marine conservation, exploration, and stewardship.
A: Working on early-stage clients, I get to be involved in the magic of creation; seeing ideas become teams, companies, and therapies.
A: The life science industry has always been important to me. Having a chance to work on the cutting edge of science and knowing that science will have a direct impact on human health motivates me every day.

Neal LeBlanc brings over eight years of accounting and finance experience to Browne Consulting Group. Since joining Browne Consulting Group as a Controller, Neal has led a team of six during the IPO of Vigil Neuroscience. He has advised clients on a variety of operational accounting matters such as budget, audits, system implementations, chart of accounts, and tax & audit implications.
Prior to Browne Consulting Group, Neal spent six years at EY in Wealth and Asset Management Assurance. His engagements included financial statement audits for registering mutual funds, private equity funds, and valuation work for private investments.
A: I always loved science and I wanted to discover new things to help people, so to be able to help build the businesses that enable scientists to create and develop these ideas is so great.
A: I never expected it to be on my bucket list, but I took up running during the pandemic and successfully completed two marathons.
A: Spent two months in India coaching the team there on how to audit, and I lead in-depth trainings on accounting and audit.
A: Yes, love it! My favorite trips have been various ski trips, road trips, and traveling around Europe. I will be traveling to Maine for a hiking trip in Acadia National Park and to see Portland, ME.

Controller, Project Manager
Tom Linden brings over seven years of accounting and finance experience to Browne Consulting Group. As a Controller and Project Manager, Tom has been leading several company-wide initiatives to maintain our rigorous quality controls. He has advised clients on a variety of operational accounting matters, such as ERP & procurement system implementations, operational accounting, initial budget setting, and strategic HR (e.g., guidance on initial benefits, payroll and first hires, local regulatory compliance).
Prior to joining Browne Consulting Group, Tom was a Manager at EY, leading consulting projects in the Financial Services industry (projects including systems strategy and implementation, data strategy and automation, accounting change and SOX compliance). Before that he “cut his teeth” in accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls at John Hancock Financial Services in Boston.
A: I was always surrounded by family in the life science industry here in Boston (including my little sister – a PhD candidate and future neuroscientist), this naturally piqued my interest after hearing enough stories. Though most companies like to tout products and services that “change the world,” it was not until I got into this industry that I met clients that do life-changing work daily.
A: After working for large firms and advising enough whale-sized clients, I have learned the ramifications of having a half-baked strategy (or a good strategy that is poorly executed). I relish the opportunity to advise clients before and as they reach these inflection points instead of years after the fact.
A: Dog training. I always thought I would be more of a “passive” dog owner, but I have really grown to love training my one-year-old bird dog. If you found me eight months ago and told me this would become a passion of mine, I would not have believed a word of it.

This role built on her previous experience as Senior Assurance Associate with RSM serving manufacturing clients, and as the Senior Financial Reporting Accountant with Vox Media preparing financial statements, technical accounting memos and audit support.
A: Like many people, my family has been impacted by diseases – specifically cancer and dementia – and I am drawn to supporting life science companies as they research treatments and cures for better outcomes.
A: Honesty and the ability to have difficult conversations for the betterment of all.
A: My children – I have twins, and they are the best thing I have ever done! Watching them grow and discover the world is incredible. Within work, managing my teams. As a people manager, it makes me incredibly happy to see my team learn, grow, and be confident in their abilities as professionals. The best feeling is when they succeed at something or become a manager themself and can continue sharing their knowledge with others.

He has advised clients on a variety of matters, from operational accounting with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, to Payroll/HR and getting clients “audit ready” for their various finance department growth lifecycles. He has also successfully implemented several accounting systems such as NetSuite, Prendio, and Expensify.
Prior to Browne Consulting Group, Luke worked in finance departments for publicly traded and private companies since graduation from University of Pittsburgh, taking on more senior roles with time. Most recently, Luke was an Assistant Controller at Onapsis, which raised their Series C funding and acquired their lead competitor while he was there.
A: Being the sole “Finance” head at many of our clients – many things come your way. You really do learn something new every day, and that is exciting and challenging. The people– within Browne and at our clients – truly work hard and challenge each other to accomplish tasks successfully, whether it is within finance functions or the actual science, and most I have worked with have a great attitude about it.
A: “You’re never as good as you think you are, and you’re never as bad as you think you are.”
It helps keep you grounded/real.

Eric Rubega brings over 14 years of accounting and finance experience to Browne Consulting Group. Eric has been promoted twice since joining us as a Controller. He is now a Director, and leads a team of seven. He has advised clients on a variety of operational, budgeting and forecasting matters such as Budget to Actual with detailed explanations, IPO prep, Audit prep, Cap table modeling, NetSuite implementations and data migrations from QuickBooks, and procurement system implementations. Most of Eric’s clients are now in the clinical trial stage.
Prior to Browne Consulting Group, Eric was an Audit Manager with Blum Shapiro (now part of CLA). His client responsibilities ranged from real estate, investment funds, construction, architectural, staffing, and professional-service firms. Prior to that, Eric worked as an auditor at Wolf & Company in Boston, where his clients were primarily in the life sciences industry. Eric audited clients anywhere from seed stage to publicly traded companies, all in the Cambridge, MA area.
A: The most exciting challenge of my professional career so far has been the M&A transaction that one of my clients went through during the summer of 2020. Novartis acquired Vedere Bio and ‘spun out’ their employees and some secondary R&D programs to form Vedere Bio 2. The 4-5 month process leading up to the actual acquisition was quite challenging and stressful, but I learned a ton and I got to be a major player in the overall process. As the CBO at the time said to me “we could not have done this without you.” That felt so great to hear. It was a particularly challenging project to be a part of that felt so good to see it finally actually close.
A: I am most passionate about my family. My wife and I have three young children at home that keep us remarkably busy. There really is not anything I would rather be doing than spending time with them – going on walks, playing in the backyard, swimming in the pool, or going to Cape Cod with the whole family to stay at my parent’s house. The flexibility that BCG has offered me has been incredible – especially at the young age of our children. I have been able to watch them grow up so much more than if I had been having to go into the office five days a week.
A: Yes, I do like to travel. My favorite trip was to Croatia. It was an amazing boat trip along the Adriatic Sea coastline of Croatia. There were many cities there where Game of Thrones was filmed. The people there were so nice and friendly. The food and weather were incredible. I recommend it to everyone not sure of where to visit.

Working as an operational HR partner in the retail, food manufacturing, pharmacy, FinTech, and now startup industries, Kim is grateful for every past obstacle, challenge, and achievement in preparation for this role with Browne Consulting Group.
A: Joining a startup! When I accepted this opportunity to join as an HR team of one, it was terrifying! But this time has been the most rewarding part of my career to date. We are all pulling the rope in the same direction, everyone is thoughtful, and we’re all here to be a part of a thriving business that is helping life science startups.
A: My grandmother used to say, “It is what it is,” and I loved how simple, sweet, and true that was. However, today, I say, “Life is what you make it.”

A: Exercise. I was at a point in my life where I was 300 pounds. The moment my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic, I knew I needed to do something about it. I wasn’t going to take any pills to fix a situation that I had total control over. Since then, I hit the gym at least five times a week and make sure I eat healthy.
A: I love to travel. I was lucky enough in one of my prior employments to travel extensively to places like Singapore, Korea, Japan, China, Denmark, & Costa Rica. My all-time favorite trip was to Japan. It was just a completely different culture that was just fascinating. At the end of it though, we are alike and just humans of this earth.
